The car starts fine when cold, and runs no problem (wife used for work and back, 25 miles). When turned off the start-up takes progressively longer when the engine is warm, until finally it will simply crank over only. Let it cool down and it will start first time again. * so, 1st start cold, "wer wer broom", then when warmed up and driven, 2nd
Practical and spacious yet compact. 2WD diesels on 17-inch wheels don't handle as well as the petrol model. Cabin is drab compared to the exterior. Increasing number of mechanical complaints. It seems that every car maker is cashing in on the success of crossover models, but Mazdaโ€™s effort, the CX-5, isnโ€™t just an also-ran.
If the chain broke the actual damage might be minimal. Depends on how expensive a new chain is, but it could be worth it to just replace the chain, re-align and see how the engine runs. Doing an (2nd hand) engine replacement will still be available as a last resort. (For a 155.000 km engine a rebuild just isn't worth it.) โ€“
Start the engine and allow the engine to warm up to at least 140 F. Increase engine speed in 200 RPM increments from IDLE to W.O.T. and observe the Actual Fuel Rail Pressure and Desired Fuel Rail Pressure parameters with a scan tool. Allow 2-3 seconds between each 200 RPM increment to allow the rail pressure to stabilize.

They weren't recalled, just done while it was in for service, but most of the dealers weren't / aren't aware of the issue, so need to diagnose, wait for auth from Mazda and then order parts (on back order).
